Situated along the foothills of Santa Monica lies Studio City, California. It’s an area established nearly a hundred years ago, but a walk around town reveals a balance between old and hip, new and trendy. In Studio City lies well-kept post-WWII architecture amongst a handful of boutique shops and eateries. With several celebrities calling Studio City home, you may even catch a familiar face on Ventura Boulevard.
In Studio City, you’ll also find one of the most respected cannabis dispensaries in all of Southern California, WHTC LA. But, more about us later.
For now, let’s discuss some of the great neighborhoods bordering Studio City.
North Hollywood
North Hollywood or NoHo, as those “in the know” call it, is a cultural hub rich in history, community, arts, and entertainment. It also shares a border with Universal Studios and is home to the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. The Fat Dog–a spot locals love, is a great place to grab a craft beer or a bite from their delicious rustic menu (like the Swedish meatballs). Visiting NoHo’s Arts District will put you smack dab in the middle of their thriving community filled with shopping, dining, and plenty of movie theaters.

Sherman Oaks
A small-town feel with the convenience of the city, Sherman Oaks is another great neighborhood located directly west of Studio City. Easy to navigate and accessible to shopping, Sherman Oaks is home to upscale malls, local parks, and well-manicured streets. Robbie Mac’s Pizza and The Local Peasant are great places to grab tasty bites. Sherman Oaks also offers easy access to main freeways, making it a great stopping point before venturing east or west for a day trip.

Toluca Lake
Just east of Studio City and between the Warner Bros. Studio is the Toluca Lake neighborhood. It’s a quiet, cozy area beloved for its friendly residents and easy access to just about anything a person may need. Of course, you can’t go far around Toluca Lake without seeing the biggest boy in town. As in Bob’s Big Boy, home of the double-decker burger. On Fridays, you can catch their vintage car show.

Laurel Canyon
Laurel Canyon has been the home of many famous musicians, including Frank Zappa and Jim Morrison. The area is lush with greenery and is known for the beauty of its rolling hills. One of the best attractions in the area is the Griffith Observatory, which allows visitors a telescopic view of the stars above Los Angeles and the sites around it (like the Hollywood Sign). It also features exhibits and regular live shows.
